FOLLOW MIA SHELTON:
Mia Shelton is a singer/songwriter from the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina. Her music ranges from slow, melodic ballads to grunge-influenced teenage anthems. Shelton’s music is inspired by a variety of artists that curate her unique sound, some of which include Lana Del Rey, Nirvana, Fleetwood Mac, Minnie Riperton, The Carpenters, Diana Ross and The Supremes, Joni Mitchell, The Doors, Cigarettes After Sex, The Smiths, and many more. From surf rock to the Jazz Age to Woodstock, her music pulls from all eras and areas, especially from her own background.
Shelton participated in many different art forms in her earlier years such as poetry, songwriting, photography, videography, sketching, classical piano, classical vocals, dance, and theatre. She started out as a dancer, going through several rigorous ballet schools before she decided she wanted to pursue singing full-time. During her brief time attending Catholic school, she joined the choir and learned numerous Catholic hymns and compositions which she now draws upon for influence. Through school chorus and theatre programs, Shelton received classical vocal training.
In 2017, Shelton wrote and recorded her first EP, “Ethereal,” with her friend and musical mentor, Joe Romeo. In 2018, she released a single called “I Used To Stalk Your Instagram” with guitarist, Illennamnate. She continues to write music and create a plethora of different art and media for her audience.
